DESCRIPTION:For the first time the LaSalle Council\, Boy Scouts of America will host the Distinguished Citizen Luncheon of LaPorte County. This year we are honored to recognize both an individual and a company that have gone above and beyond to support their community. Blair Milo will receive the first individual Distinguished Citizen recognition and Kabelin Ace Hardware will receive the first Community Partner recognition. The committee chose these honorees based on their contribution to LaPorte and their values exemplify the Scout Oath and Law. Scout Oath: On my honor\, I will do my best. To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law\; To help other people at all times\; To keep myself physically strong\, mentally awake and morally straight. Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy\, Loyal\, Helpful\, Friendly\, Courteous\, Kind\, Obedient\, Cheerful\, Thrifty\, Brave\, Clean\, and Reverent.\n\nTHE DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN AWARD & COMMUNITY PARTNER AWARD is presented by the LaSalle Council\, Boy Scouts of America\, to a person or persons whose leadership in business\, industry\, government\, education\, social work or community endeavors has contributed significantly to the growth and vitality of our Nation.\n\nThis year\, we are most pleased and honored to recognize\n\nCurrently serves as the State of Indiana's first Secretary for Career Connections and Talent. Appointed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb into the position created by Executive Order in July of 2017\, Secretary Milo serves as the state's Chief Talent Officer as Indiana works to fill an estimated one million job openings over the next ten years.\n\nPrior to her appointment to Governor Holcomb's Cabinet\, Secretary Milo served as Mayor of La Porte\, Indiana\, after being first elected in 2011 and reelected in 2015. During her time in office\, Mayor Milo focused her administration on building the most conducive climate for economic development growth\, providing for sustainable infrastructure needs and fostering a community dedication toward positive lifestyle choices. During her time in office 1\,100 new jobs and over $260M in new investment were created.
