DESCRIPTION:This is the first in a Art & Horse Assisted Healing & Empowerment workshop series. More dates TBA. \n\n\n\nOctober 12\, 2019 10AM - 4PM Central Standard time \n\n(rain date October 20)\n\n$125 All art supplies and horses provided.\n\nBring your own lunch (water & snacks provided)\n\n\n\nFacilitated by Stacey Garcelon M.Ed. & the Anam Cara team with trauma-informed practices\, Eagala model principles\, and decades of mental health\, horse & art experience. \n\n\n\nNO ART OR HORSE EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY :-)\n\n\n\nAgenda: \n\n10:00 - 10:00 am: Participant arrival time\, welcome\, housekeeping\, introductions\, gathering themes to be used throughout the workshop.\n\n\n\n10:30 - 11:00 am: Trauma education: what is trauma? How does it affect the mind & body and what can we do to heal and empower ourselves following trauma. \n\n\n\n11:00 - 11:15 am: Comfort break/snacks/water\n\n\n\n11:15 - 12:30 pm: Art & Horses: create/express goals for individual trauma healing\, then join the horses in a facilitated session to deepen insight and awareness of this goal.\n\n\n\n1:00: LUNCH with discussion about empowerment: what does it mean?\n\n\n\n2:00   3:00 pm: Horses & Art: explore empowerment with the herd\, then return to the art to see if anything needs to change or create a new piece based on insights and awareness from horse experiences. \n\n\n\n3:00   4:00 pm: Sharing/Closure\n\n\n\nTrauma-informed principles: \n\n1. Safety \n\n2. Trust worthiness and transparency\n\n3. Peer support \n\n4. Collaboration and mutuality \n\n5. Empowerment\, voice and choice\n\n6. Cultural\, Historical\, and Gender Issues\n\n\n\nEagala Model:\n\n1. Team approach (mental health professional\, equine specialist & horses)\n\n2.
