SUMMARY:Brain Injury Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Brain injury affects different people in different degrees\, but those who are living with a brain injury often experience similar emotions and frequently feel isolated and alone in working through them. Dealing with a brain injury or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can be challenging for both the patient and his or her family\, but sharing your experiences with people who have had similar experiences can help. \n\n\n\nThis group is co-facilitated by Stacey Garcelon and Kristy Putnam\; both survivors of TBI themselves and both trained facilitators. We are here to provide a nonjudgmental framework for people living with brain injuries to find understanding and support from others who are in similar situations. For more information about Kristy and her amazing story of resiliency and healing: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=608759422637405&id=391179711062045\n\n\n\nAt this inaugural meeting (8/4)\, we as a group will begin to determine our group purpose\, meeting frequency\, date\, time. Some examples for discussion: to provide information on TBI recovery\, to meet others\, share our experiences\, process emotions in a safe and supportive environment\, and/or provide support in working toward various goals\, promote participation in previous activities or returning to school/work\, to just have fun and be social with others who understand TBI. \n\n\n\nThe group meets at the Anam Cara\, 4298 E 1000 North\, LaPorte\, IN 46350. We are limited to 8 12 members so please call 219-207-7222 to RSVP.
