SUMMARY:La Porte County Family YMCA 38TH Annual Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:Become a part of the continuing health and wellness tradition at the La Porte County Family YMCA. The 38th Annual Triathlon will be held on August 5th at Soldier's Memorial Park in La Porte\, Indiana. This USAT sanctioned event features Chip Timing and includes a 1/4 mile lake swim\, 12.4 mile bike ride and 3.4 mile run. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete as individuals or as part of a team. Awards will be given to each overall female\, male and female masters finishers as well as 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for each age category. \n\nAthlete registration opens at 6:30 A.M. (CST) at Cummings Lodge in Soldier's Memorial Park and closes at 7:30 A.M. The La Porte County Family YMCA is also offering an orientation beginning at 7:30 A.M. at the Beach House for those individuals competing in the Triathlon for the first time.  The first wave of racers will begin promptly at 8:00 A.M followed by waves in five minute increments thereafter. For USAT registered members\, the 38th Annual Triathlon is $60.00 for individual racers (adult and youth) and $110.00 for each team. For Non-USAT members\, there will be an additional USAT membership fee of $10 per youth participant and $15 per adult participant.  \n\nTo register for this challenging and fun experience log onto www.lpymca.org or complete the registration form at either the Long Beach\, Elston or La Porte County Family YMCA branches. If you have questions\, please contact Elizabeth Downs\, Healthy Living Director at 219-325-9622 or email at edowns@lpymca.org.\n\nFor Residents within the designated race course\, please note that roads will be closed to traffic from 8am-10:30am on August 5th.  These roads include: Waverly\, from Grangemouth to Garden Street\, Garden Street\, Lakeshore Drive from Grangemouth to Orchard Ave\, Orchard Avenue between Lakeshore and Garden St. and Small Road out to North Forrester Road.  Please plan accordingly. Your patience is very much appreciated by all who are involved.  \n\nAll non-USAT fees go toward the La Porte County Family YMCA scholarship programs.
