SUMMARY:LCSO Children's Concert\, Need a Little Christmas!
DESCRIPTION:The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Children's Chorus present their annual Christmas Concert\, Need a Little Christmas\, Friday December 18\, at 7:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church\, 102 G. Street\, La Porte. This concert is free and open to the public.\n\n \n\nJoin us for this heart warming\, yearly concert performed by the LCSO Children's Chorus\, under the direction of Matthew Nelson. Many talented musicians from the area will accompany the children as well as the vocal talents of Jenevieve Hayes and Tim King. \n\n\n\nJenevieve Hayes\, a lifelong resident of La Porte County\, has been performing in the horn section of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra since 2000.  In addition to her vocal and musical talents\, she currently assists the organization as Personnel Manager. Tim King moved to La Porte in 2013 after retiring from a 32 year career in Arts Administration. With over 150 performances across the country under his belt\, the Children's Chorus is thrilled this year to join him in singing Holy Night\, Silent Night.\n\n\n\nThis years program will feature musical selections focused on Christmas celebrations around the world such as Christmas in Any Language and African Noel.  Other holiday favorites are included in the Jingle All the Way Medley and will be sure to fill you with the joy and spirit of the holiday season! \n\n \n\nMatt Nelson has been directing the Children's Chorus since it's inception. He has studied Music Education and Piano Performance at Ball State University\, Muncie IN and is currently the Director of the Agape Christian Church Choir of La Porte.   \n\n \n\nThe LCSO Children's Chorus is currently in it's seventh season as a community choral music program. Comprised of over forty students in grades 2-5\, the children hail from schools throughout the La Porte County area.  Each week throughout the school year they rehearse under the direction of Matthew Nelson and learn fundamental techniques of group and solo performance.
