SUMMARY:LCSO to Present 29th Annual Children's Education Concerts
DESCRIPTION:On October 11\, LCSO will present John Lithgow's\, The Remarkable Farkle McBride\, the story of a boy with endearing but notoriously unsatisfied curiosity. He explores each orchestra section one-by-one until he realizes the only way to be at his best was by making all of the sections work together! Students will learn about the many different instruments in the orchestra\, what it means to be a Maestro\, and how important each individual's part is to the entire symphony! This program is a message on the power of connection and diversity\, wrapped in the guise of humorous education on how an orchestra works.\n\nOther interactive works will also be included and presented by the symphony. This year\, we are very proud to include bilingual learning opportunities in our Teacher's Supplement Guide. Children will learn how to say various instruments and orchestral terminology in Spanish\, along with other lessons that meet Indiana Academic Standards for Education.\n\nAbout the Concert: Each year elementary and middle school students from La Porte\, Porter\, Lake and St. Joseph counties travel to La Porte to experience a new educational concert. These highly interactive and imaginative programs are designed to introduce the young listener to the world of symphonic performance.
