SUMMARY:One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
DESCRIPTION:The La Porte Little Theatre Club continues its 93rd season with the dramatic comedy that has captivated audiences all over the country\, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest\, directed by Douglas Campbell and his assistant director\, Mary Watterson.\n\nThe play is set in a very structured insane asylum\, where order and conformity are the only indicators of sanity. When charming rogue Randle McMurphy (John Hutchinson) comes to the asylum after faking insanity to avoid prison work detail\, he immediately disdains the idea of conformity. He leads his fellow inmates\, a motley crew of voluntary commits including shy mama's boy Billy (Anthony Garcia) and silent Native American Chief Bromden (Thom Nelson)\, in a series of acts\, including parties and revolts\, to assert some independence. These acts are not tolerated by the fierce and unyielding head nurse\, Nurse Ratched (AvaLee Abraham). McMurphy soon learns that the authorities have horrible and terrifying methods in place to ensure conformity. Called "Scarifying and powerful" by the New York Times\, Cuckoo's Nest tells a moving tale of the struggle to maintain individuality in a world that calls for conformity.\n\nOpening night is Friday\, March 9th\, with additional shows on March 10\, 11\, 16\, 17\, and 18. Curtain times are 7:30 PM on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 PM on Sunday. Doors will open a half hour before showtime.\n\nTicket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling 219-362-5113 or by visiting the theatre's website at www.laportelittletheatreclub.com.
