SUMMARY:Quit Smoking With Acupuncture
DESCRIPTION:The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November (November 20\, 2014) each year by encouraging smokers to use that date to make a plan to quit\, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By quitting\, even for one day\, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life ? one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. Join others? during the week of November 17- 22\, 2014 at Clark?s Family Chiropractic for a Free Initial Acupuncture Trial Session from Licensed Acupuncturist\, Stephanie Gordon and see how taking this difficult and important first step is the best decision for you and your family. What can Acupuncture do to assist in quitting smoking? Acupuncturists are trained to address addictions\, especially nicotine addiction. They assess the addiction from several perspectives\, physical\, mental and emotional. They use a technique where fine needles are inserted into a set of acupuncture points on the ear (auricular acupuncture)\, as promoted by The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. You will be sent home with small beads placed on the ear using adhesive tape\, that when stimulated\, can continue to help curb withdrawal symptoms (an application of auricular acupressure). Our goal in the treatment plan is to support patients through the acute phase of withdrawal\, improving your success at kicking the nicotine habit. Commonly\, patients experience a decrease in cravings\, changes in sensory perception as the taste and smell of cigarettes becomes intolerable\, and an increased state of calm and relaxation.
