SUMMARY:Volunteer Expo
DESCRIPTION:Leadership La Porte County is hosting its second annual "Volunteer Expo" on Thursday\, April 19\, 2018 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium\, from 4:30 pm -6:30 pm. Approximately 30 non-profit organizations will have tables set up with information about their volunteer opportunities. There is no charge for the general public to attend. Vendor space is still available for non- profit organizations. The cost to exhibit is $30.\n\n \n\nGreat communities need great volunteers. When citizens work together\, big things can happen. Community members who attend the event can learn more about organizations in La Porte County and explore ways to get involved. Attendees are encouraged to think about the passion and talent they can provide to an organization in need of assistance.\n\n \n\n"Last year's first ever Volunteer Expo was well attended by youth and adults. We were so encouraged by the success of last year's event that we are offering it once again. The event is designed to connect the talents and interests of community members with organizations that need volunteers. We achieve more when we work together." stated Monica Komasinski\, Executive Director of Leadership La Porte County. She added\, "A key benefit noted by last year's vendors was the opportunity to network and learn from one another. Many vendors made plans to further collaborate with each other on shared initiatives." \n\n \n\nThe event is sponsored in part by the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC). Bert Cook\, Executive Director at GLEDC stated\, "GLEDC believes that personal involvement makes for a stronger community. People who are invested are able to communicate the importance of leadership and hard work thus helping pave the way for others to pay it forward. GLEDC is proud to sponsor the Volunteer Expo." \n\n \n\nLeadership La Porte County\, Inc. was formed in 1984\, with support from the Lilly Foundation\, to encourage engaged citizens to take an active role in their communities by serving on non-profit boards and committees\, and participating in activities that support community needs. Thirty four years after its formation\, Leadership La Porte County continues to provide programs and events geared toward community involvement of adults and youth. With a mission to: "inspire\, develop\, cultivate and connect emerging and existing leaders to serve their diverse communities"\, the organization has trained thousands of citizens throughout its history.\n\n \n\nFor more information on this event\, to reserve a table\, or to learn more about Leadership La Porte County\, please call (219) 325-8223\, e-mail: info@leadershiplaportecounty.com or visit www.leadershiplaportecounty.com.
