Battle of the Badges Wiffle Ball Tournament
Family Advocates invites the community to come support our local police, Sheriff's office, firefighters, DCS workers, and EMS compete to see who will come out the winner of our Battle of the Badges Wiffle Ball Tournament.
Families are encouraged to participate by supporting our local heroes as they battle for the traveling trophy and bragging rights.
Event is free to attend and show your support. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
-La Porte Police Department Team -La Porte Fire Department Team -Michigan City Police Department Team -La Porte EMS -Michigan City Fire Department Team -La Porte County Sheriff's Office -Department of Child Services -Maple City Magic
Time: Double elimination tournament will begin with all eight teams playing in the first game:
First round starts at 8:30 a.m. with rounds two through six starting every hour respectively.
We hope this event will increase awareness of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Program and recruit more volunteer advocates. The cost of providing a volunteer for a child who has been a victim of abuse or neglect is $1,000 per child, per year. Family Advocates currently has 182 children in our program and there are 53 children in La Porte County still waiting for a volunteer. Proceeds from the race will directly help Family Advocates recruit and train CASA volunteers to give a voice to abused and neglected children in court and the foster care system.
