Bicentennial Party in the Park
The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay was created to honor Hoosiers who have demonstrated exceptional public service, achievement, acts of heroism and/or volunteer service to their
neighborhood, community, region or state. Torchbearers are Hoosiers, representing all walks of life. More than 1,800 torchbearers will be selected to carry the torch throughout the state. There have been 33 torchbearers selected to carry the torch in LaPorte County on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The torch will enter our county around 2pm coming from St. Joseph County. The torch will move through Rolling Prairie, LaPorte and Michigan City. There will be a mid-day party at Plaza 618 in LaPorte and a final celebration at North Point Pavilion in Michigan City’s Washington Park. This will be a fun and exciting day as we celebrate Indiana’s 200 th Anniversary and you are all invited.
The Bicentennial Party in the Park round out our day of Bicentennial festivities in La Porte County. It will be celebrated at North Point Pavilion from 5pm-10pm. Bison Burgers are provided, there will be a cash bar, and live music will keep us all in a celebratory mood. We will have community speakers and the sealed bids of the Bison-tennial Bill statue will be opened. It will be a great way to honor our community and the Bicentennial, We hope to see you there!
