Blue Star Museums Free Days this Summer for Active Duty Military
The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is now a Blue Star Museum. From May 16, 2020 through Labor Day (September 7, 2020), we are giving free admission to active-duty military personnel and up to five family members. Admission is free to all those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps. The active duty service member does not have to be present for free admission.
Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum. Active duty military family members may attend for free without the active duty family member with their DD Form 1173 ID Card, or DD Form 1173-1 ID Card.
This program is only for active duty personnel, not veterans. We offer free admission to veterans nine days out of the calendar year.
The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Avenue in La Porte, and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Museum is handicapped accessible.
