Business Made Social - November 2024
Join us for Business Made Social, a networking event for La Porte business people! This event will be held at State Street Community Church, at 7:30 a.m. on November 19th. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Sandra Wood, Superintendent at the La Porte Community School Corporation.
Dr. Sandra Wood is in her first year as Superintendent of La Porte Community School Corporation, bringing 19 years of experience in public education to this role. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University. She has been a licensed Superintendent in the State of Indiana since 2016.
Dr. Wood achieved significant results as the former Superintendent of the Metropolitan School District of New Durham Township. She oversaw a 7.8% increase in K-12 enrollment, implemented a district-wide K-12 1:1 instructional technology program, and developed a comprehensive Learning Prioritization Plan. These accomplishments demonstrate her ability to drive growth, integrate modern educational tools, and strategically enhance learning outcomes.
Dr. Wood is recognized for her fiscal responsibility and data-driven decision-making approach. Her hands-on, collaborative leadership style fosters a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Dr. Wood consistently emphasizes the importance of aligning educational initiatives with long-term strategic goals to ensure academic success and operational sustainability.
Her leadership philosophy centers on the question, "What's best for kids?" This student-centric approach, combined with her experience as an administrator and a parent, allows her to address educational challenges from multiple perspectives. Dr. Wood brings a unique understanding to her role, informing her decisions with both professional expertise and personal insight into the needs of students and families.
