La Porte County Symphony Orchrestra's Classic Concert

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra presents: Festival! a classic concert on March 13, 3:00 pm at the Elston Performing Arts Center, 317 Detroit Street, Michigan, City IN.  This concert is made possible by generous support from IU Health La Porte Hospital. 
 
For the first time, two of La Porte County's finest performing arts organizations will collaborate in a wonderful afternoon of music.  Maestro Philip Bauman and the musicians will be welcoming the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival for their second concert of the season. Works including Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue will feature the MCCMF musicians while the LCSO presents a stellar Academic Festival Overture by Brahms and Symphony No. 5 Reformation by Mendelssohn. 
 
Featured performers include Award winning American concert pianist, Robert Marshall Auler, who made his Carnegie Hall debut in June of 2005. Cellist Wesley Baldwin performs internationally, and as founder of the Plymouth String Quartet, has been a past top prize winner in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.  On violin, Zofia Glashauser, concertmaster of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, joins MCCMF co-founder  Nicolas Paul Orbovich also on violin. Through his leadership, Orbovich has galvanized the MCCMF to become recognized as one of the best chamber music festivals in the country.   



As part of the festivities, The Michigan City Chamber Music Festival  will host a preview Meet the Musicians event which includes a short recital and reception Saturday, March 12,  6:00pm a the First Presbyterian Church, Michigan City IN. This event is free and tickets to attend the Sunday concert will be available for purchase.
