Pine Lake Flotilla

A Flotilla is the term used for a “fleet of ships or boats”. While it originated as a navel term, the idea of a flotilla also has a long history associated with a social gathering of boats. Flotillas are held worldwide to bring communities together and celebrate events. In fact, Sutton’s Bay Michigan has hosted flotillas in the past that have included more than 2000 kayaks. IN ADDITION, more than 3000 watercraft recently participated in one of the largest flotillas of its kind in Fourth Lake Inlet, NY. In this same spirit of community fun, Pine Lake will be host to LaPorte’s first ever organized flotilla on September 5th, 2015. This event will ALLOW only a select 90 boats, but those 90 WATERCRAFT will be lighting up the lake as a unified “fleet of ships of boats”. The lake will be full of color and lights from JUST before dusk throughout the remainder of the evening. Anyone with a boat is welcome to participate in this first ever of its kind event. However, after 90 boats have entered, participation will be closed. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and ticket sales open on July 3rd, 2015. Ticket sales will end on August 22nd or after 90 tickets are sold (whichever occurs first). To enter your boat, simply click on any balloon/logo on the web-site. (www.pinelakeflotilla.com) Tickets to the event ARE in the form of a light-up balloon. This balloon will be attached to your boat and make you an official participant in the Flotilla. In addition to the balloon, participants are encouraged to light their boats up with strings of lights and other decorations. Battery powered lights can be purchased on the same web-page with the balloon and entry tickets. In addition, there will be a simultaneous group release of Chinese Lanterns. These lanterns are a specific type and color so the release will be uniform. These lanterns are also available for purchase at the same time balloons and lights are purchased.
