Legislative Affairs Committee

Leigh Morris began his 30-year career in healthcare administration after receiving his MHA Degree from the University of Minnesota.  After he retired as CEO of La Porte Hospital, he went on to serve as Mayor of La Porte and then Deputy Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation for Toll Road Oversight and Senior Vice President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.  He’s a former Chairman of the La Porte County Republican Party, was a member of the Indiana Citizen’s Redistricting Commission and was Chairman of the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority from 2008 to 2013.  He was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Frank O’Bannon in and received the Governor’s Distinguished Service Medal from Governor Mitch Daniels. 

I am a Vietnam Veteran and have been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 25 years. I currently serve as Chairman of the National Legislative Committee for the Department of Indiana. I represent the 35,000 VFW members of Indiana. I work with our U.S. Senators and Congress-persons on behalf of Veterans and our military. I am retired from NIPSCO after 37 1/2 years working with high voltage. My wife is also retired from NIPSCO, we have one daughter, 4 grandchildren and one great grandson. I enjoy playing golf and gardening. I served 8 years on the LaPorte County Council and am now running for LaPorte County Commissioner.
