by being a catalyst for social and economic vitality. As La Porte County’s community foundation, we manage $47 million in assets, administer more than 350 charitable funds, and have distributed more than $25 million through direct grants and scholarships.

We are currently seeking a Marketing and Program Manager to join our team in Michigan City, IN. In this role, you will manage the Foundation’s marketing and communications efforts and grant and scholarship programs.
Pay: $60,000-$70,000/year

Responsibilities:
  • Executes marketing activities including annual report, radio shows, appeal letters, press releases, and e-newsletters, and manages website, including donation pages.
  • Manages all aspects of social media channels.
  • Ensures adherence to brand standards.
  • Compiles mailing and invitation lists for print and email campaigns.
  • Creates content for special events such as the Virtual Scholarship video, Unity’s annual lunch, gala and more.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff to ensure all necessary external-facing materials are created and maintained.
  • Executes annual general scholarship and Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship processes as well as other scholarships that do not follow annual cycles.
  • Works collaboratively to execute Unity’s granting programs such as Power for Good, three grant programs benefitting Michigan City area educators and other award programs that do not follow an annual cycle.
  • Promotes Unity’s scholarship and grant opportunities to teachers, students, non-profits.
  • Works with colleagues to connect unfunded needs with funding opportunities from donors or other Unity funds.
  • Coordinates with the Controller to ensure payment of scholarships and grants originating in grant and scholarship software.
  • Works collaboratively to develop marketing budget to be approved by the President and Board of Directors.
  • Works with Controller and others to prepare fund and donation related templates and externally directed messaging.
  • Oversees external facing aspects of online giving hub, and third-party donation sites, including roll out of new portal features and updates.
  • Supports the President in Unity’s goal to be an effective leader, convenor and catalyst for a better La Porte County and region.
  • Shares community information to our audiences, storytelling about La Porte County’s non-profits, issues and successes.
  • Supports the Vibrant Communities efforts, website, communication, newsletters, meetings.
  • Supports fund raising efforts related to Vibrant and component funds.
  • Manages the Foundation’s grant and scholarship software; trains volunteer evaluation committee members in the software; interacts with applicants to resolve questions.
  • Works with outside vendors for website and printing needs.
  • Monitors Unity’s general email account.
  • Manages online aspects of quinquennial Give Day event- next one in 2027.
  • Sets up donation pages for new funds and for memorials on Unity’s website.
  • May make Board meeting and community presentations, attend community meetings.
  • Participates in staff team, committee, and board meetings as requested.
  • Participates in relevant online and in-person training opportunities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Three to Five years related work experience required, grantmaking and community foundation experience is a plus.
  • Experience and strong comfort level with Microsoft Office, Google, Zoom, Canva, Adobe, Constant Contact, and social media platforms including Facebook, Linked In and YouTube
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics and Word Press
  • Strong knowledge of La Porte County, its communities, issues and opportunities.
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
  • Occasional events outside of business hours
  • This role requires in-office presence, with periodic remote-work opportunity.
