Hello, my name is Ken Field, and I am the Business Development/Environmental Services Manager for G.E. Marshall, Inc., (GEM), a 63-year-old excavation and site services company based in Valparaiso, IN. Prior to joining the company in 2018, I spent 26 years as a founder and partner of an environmental cleanup firm called Midwest Environmental, Inc. (MEI) in Hammond, IN. Most of my career has involved the handling, packaging and disposal of hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, and the remediation of contaminated properties for compliance or Brownfields re-development. With a B.S. in Advertising/Journalism from Ball State University, I regularly assumed the role of Marketing and Sales Manager, as well as Operations Manager. This experience has translated into a mixed role at GEM with a majority of time spent in business development and an occasional return to the field to assist on projects that encounter hidden environmental hazards.
