About Us
Paladin is the largest non-profit human services organization in NWI that serves as determined advocates for children, persons with disabilities, and seniors to ensure that they have the supports, tools, and access necessary to learn, grow, and lead a meaningful life.
DISABILITY SERVICES: Paladin originally formed through a merger between Michiana Resources and Parents & Friends in 2017. Paladin also merged with Arc NWI to continue Services Lake sites serve over 500 adults with disabilities. Additionally, Paladin launched a new Behavior Management service, is working to expand transitional programs for those moving out of the school system, and successfully hosts camps for children with disabilities. Our employment support aids 82 adults with jobs in the community.
TRANSPORTATION: Once only serving a Medicaid eligible, small population of non-emergency medical riders; this service is now able to arrange transportation for all LaPorte Co. seniors in need of access to official business appointments, visits to combat social isolation, dialysis and chemotherapy appointments as well as prenatal mothers. No fee with expanded hours 6a-6p + some Sat. available.
CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: In 2018, Paladin acquired Barker Woods Enrichment Center to provide children’s waiver services throughout the region. Shortly afterwards, Paladin was awarded the La Porte County Head Start grant and merged with the Child Care Consortium. Paladin Early Childhood Education/Head Start program hosts three high-quality, NAEYC accredited and/or Level 4 Paths to Quality sites in LaPorte County.
