Come to the Bourbon Street Bistro for a ribbon cutting and grand reopening on Wednesday, December 14th at 4:30 p.m. The event will take place at 701 Lincolnway in Downtown La Porte where the restaurant was formerly known as Etropal Restaurant and Lounge.
Bourbon Street Bistro welcomes a new Executive Chef and owner, John Moultrie. Moultrie has had a vast culinary career, managing and cooking in restaurants in Chicago and Walt Disney World. A veteran entrepreneur, he is the former owner of several Chicago iconic brands- the Jazz Oasis, Red Onion Piano and Wine Bar, and Bazzells French Quarter Bistro. Moultrie, a former chef restaurateur and music entrepreneur, is the recipient of numerous awards including the Small Business Association Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year; Dollar & Sense magazine's International Jazz Club of the Year; Chicago Tribune's Top African American Chef, Owner of Chicago Magazine's Best Restaurants for Desserts and Chicago Tribune's Top 10 Best Undiscovered Restaurants. Moultrie sits on the board of the Washburne Culinary Institute and Chicago Public Schools Careers to Technical Education (CTE) Industry advisory board.
Bourbon Street Bistro bills itself as La Porte's premier location for authentic Louisiana-style cuisine, craft beers and wines, and live blues music. The location also features full-service dining and catering and private events in its Grand Room. Chef Moultrie has revamped the Bistro's menu that now offers a unique selection including fried alligator, jambalaya, blackened salmon, and many more Cajun dishes.
This event kicks off a week of events at the restaurant. On Thursday, December 15, Burn 'Em Brewing will be on hand as part of a tap takeover. Friday, December 16 will feature the Chicago Kingsnakes and Saturday, December 17 will feature The Ivy Ford Blues Band as the restaurant starts its blues music offerings which are anticipated to continue.
