Northwest Health Offers Support Groups for the General Public
La Porte, IN – Northwest Health is pleased to offer support groups for individuals with diabetes and those seeking to lose weight. All are open to the general public. Diabetes Support Group in La Porte The Diabetes Support Group provides a place to share ideas, experiences, and challenges related for those with diabetes, as well as their support team. City, Center Township to partner with Nest Community Shelter on warming center this winter
La PORTE, IN (Jan. 15, 2025) – Residents in need will soon have access to an emergency warming shelter right here in La Porte, according to Mayor Tom Dermody. Joining forces with Center Township Trustee Lisa Pierzakowski, the City has today announced a partnership with Nest Community Shelter to bring a temporary emergency shelter – dubbed Nest La Porte – to the former train depot on Washington Street. Set to open this Sunday, Jan. 19, the shelter will be open nightly from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. through March 31.
Health Foundation of La Porte to Accept 2025 Grant Applications Beginning January 10
LA PORTE COUNTY - Grant applications for programs and projects that align with Health Foundation of La Porte, or HFL’s, strategic priorities of Healthy Children, Healthy Living, Healthy Minds, as well as Healthy La Porte will be accepted beginning January 10, 2025, through HFL's online grant portal. Applications to apply for a grant over $25,000 require a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) as a first step. LOIs are due by January 31 and must be submitted through the online grant portal.
