MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) invites the community to join us for an engaging October First Friday program celebrating the life, work and enduring legacy of renowned America sculptor Richard Hunt (1935-2023).

Presented in collaboration with Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, Michigan, the evening will feature Tami Fauver, Director of Krasl Art Center, and sculptor Eric Stephenson in a lively conversation, beginning at 6 p.m., about their experiences working with Hunt and the profound impact he continues to have on the artistic landscape of The Region.

Guests will learn about Hunt's extraordinary legacy gift to Southwest Michigan through the Richard Hunt Studio Center in Benton Harbor, an initiative that preserves his creative legacy while providing opportunities for artists in the community. The program will also offer an intimate look at Hybrid Figure (1978), a work from LCA's permanent collection, providing insight into Hunt's distinctive artistic process and approach to sculpture.

Whether you are familiar with Hunt's work or discovering it for the first time, this First Friday promises an illuminating evening of art, stories, and conversation about an artist whose influence continues to shape the creative community of our region.

This program is supported by Lynn and Allen Turner. LCA's First Fridays are always free and open to the public, with support from Horizon Bank. Light refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be available from 5 to 8 p.m.; the talk begins at 6 p.m. (Central).
