NORTHWEST INDIANA - The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America has officially chartered Carpenters Local Union N. 2950, uniting thousands of skills men and women across Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper, Starke, and Pulaski Counties under one banner built on grit, determination, excellence, and professionalism.

Carpenters Local 2950 unites the proud legacies of Locals 599, 1005, and 1485 - three Locals that have long represented the heart of the Region's workforce. Their merger into one Local creates a single, unified organization designed to amplify member strength, streamline representation, and deliver even greater influence in the construction industry and the communities across "The Region."

"This Local was built on one simple idea - that the carpenters of Northwest Indiana deserve a unified, modern, and relentless organization that fights for local work, fair wages, and respect on every job," said John Carr, President of Carpenters Local 2950. "We're setting the standard for what a 21st-century trade union should look like - disciplined, strategic, and proud of where we come from."

Local 2950 is an affiliate of the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, representing professional carpenters, millwrights, and pile drivers who build and maintain the Region's infrastructure - from heavy industry on the lakefront to the commercial, institutional, and data center projects that power the Midwest economy.

Local 2950 is committed to investing in our regional building trades programs and expanding opportunities for young men and women pursuing skilled careers in construction. Through outreach, education, and community engagement, Local 2950 aims to grow the next generation of union carpenters while continuing to uphold the values of quality, safety, and integrity that have long defined the trade.
