CLH Invests in Accounting's Future with Two Summer Interns

Michigan City, IN – 7/23/2025 – Two aspiring accounting professionals are gaining real-world experience through summer internships with CLH, CPAs & Consultants.
Charlotte M. Dombrowski of Valparaiso and Kristina I. Sherpitis of Beverly Shores joined the firm’s Michigan City office to further their education and solidify their career plans.
Dombrowski, entering her senior year at the University of Minnesota Crookston, is pursuing a double major in finance and accounting. In this second internship with CLH, she’s building on last year’s experience in bookkeeping and accounting software certification. This summer, she’s focused on tax preparation and additional accounting software experience.
“During training, it is nice to be in the accounting world to experience how it flows and to see if you actually like it,” said Dombrowski. “CLH is giving us wide-ranging exposure to prepare us for our future careers.”
Sherpitis, a junior at Indiana University, who is also double majoring in finance and accounting, is completing her first internship with CLH. Just weeks in, she said the experience has reinforced her career choice, and she appreciates the level of support she has received.
“You hear that internships can be overwhelming or intimidating, but everyone I work with is always checking in and making sure I am doing well with the training,” she said. “They want us as involved as possible with the knowledge we have so far.”
CLH’s internship program is part of the firm’s long-term strategy to develop top talent in the accounting profession. Allison Leffert, CPA, and Alexia Perez, CLH Managers, lead the firm’s internship training. Commented Leffert, “The program is designed to give interns a comprehensive view of careers in accounting.” She continued, “It’s a commitment from us to continue building the future of the accounting industry.”
Perez added, “Our program goes far beyond administrative tasks. We understand how important it is to invest in their development early on. It gives our interns a greater chance of success in their careers.”
