Experience the Joy of Service: Volunteer at Reins of Life in 2026
Reins of Life, Inc. is a non-profit therapeutic horseback riding facility that serves children and adults with disabilities through horseback riding, therapeutic carriage driving, interactive vaulting, special education school programs, and community visits. Each participant requires one to three volunteers for their lesson, so the volunteer need is high. There are also two feeding shifts per day, with three to four volunteers per shift.
Reins would love to add you to their volunteer roster, even if you don’t have any horse experience. Volunteers handle horses and interact with participants, families, and other volunteers. Volunteering can be great exercise, an excuse to get outside, and a unique way to spend a couple of hours every week. The benefits to volunteers are immense, but the program is life-changing for the participants who can be as young as two years old.
Reins of Life invites all their community neighbors, age 13+, to a new volunteer training on Monday, December 15, from 2-4:30 PM CT or Tuesday, December 16, from 5:30-8:30 PM CT. After attending one training, you’ll be able to volunteer during therapeutic riding lessons, school groups, and special events. If you’re interested in volunteering in the therapeutic carriage driving program or interactive vaulting, there are additional trainings. Anyone interested in volunteering to feed the herd must be 16+ years old and will receive one-on-one training.
A volunteer remarked, “One thing I love about Reins is that everyone and everything is just so positive and directed towards all things good! Lots of good vibes always!”
Please consider joining the Reins of Life team. The rewards are immense for both you and the participants!
To RSVP for either of the above training sessions, call 219-874-7519. If no one answers, please leave a message including your email address.
Reins of Life is located at 9375 W. 300 N. in Michigan City. For more details on its programs, visit https://www.reinsoflife.org.
