Michigan City, Indiana – Horizon Bank is proud to support The Salvation Army of Michigan City with a $5,000 grant in support of its Weekend Backpack Feeding Program.

This program provides critical weekend meals for children in the Michigan City area who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or facing food insecurity. Each week during the school year, children receive six nutritious meals. The goal is to make sure they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner on both Saturday and Sunday when school meals are not available.

These funds help us continue providing nutritious meals to local, food-insecure children,” said Major Becky Simmons, Corps Officer. “This support is a true blessing, not only to the children we serve, but to our entire community.
