Lubeznik /center for the Arts' Curator Gallery Talk for ''LIT!'' Exhibit
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) will host a curator talk for its new exhibition, "LIT! Site-Specific Installations by Maria Burundarena and Luftwerk," on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m. (Central).
The public is invited to join LCA's curator, Whitney Bradshaw, as she takes you through installations that challenge viewers' sense of space and place by experimenting with light, color and materials. Learn about the artists, their artwork, inspirations and processes. You can ask questions to join in on the discussion. An interpeter will sign the tour in American Sign Language.
The installations by artists Maria Burundarena and Luftwerk range from glowing sculptures to neon-lit rooms and are both ethereal and precise, requiring active sensory engagement and inviting viewers to see and experience space in new ways.
Burundarena, an emerging artist based in Chicago, combines photography, print media, collage, reflective materials and light in large-scale installations. she cuts, reassembles and condenses fragments of materials to explore multiple dimensions and challenge perception.
Luftwerk - the internationally acclaimed Chicago-based due of Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero - has created a new site-specific, immersive painted environment in which light, color and form merge into a dynamic whole. Once illuminated, the work contracts and expands, continuously reshaping the space. The interplay of light and color generates a harmonious, meditative atmosphere that sharpens or softens spatial perception.
Free gallery tours are available for small groups and organizations. To schedule a docent-led tour, contact Janet Bloch at jbloch@lubeznikcenter.org.
