Lubeznik Center for the Arts' Curator Gallery Talk for ''Women to the Front'' Exhibit
Michigan City, Ind. - Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) will host a curator talk for its summer block-buster exhibition, "Women to the Front: Artworks from the Sara M. and Michelle Vance Waddell Collection," on Saturday, July 19 at 11:30 a.m. (Central).
The public is invited to join LCA's curator, Whitney Bradshaw, as she takes you through the curated selection of works from the extraordinary private collection of Sara M. and Michelle Vance Waddell. Learn about the collectors, the artists, their artwork, inspiration and process. You can ask questions to join in on the discussion. An interpreter will sign the tour in American Sign Language.
"Women to the Front" features more than 70 original works by 59 artists, spanning from the 1970's to today. These pieces explore social and political issues and reflect the Waddell's commitment to both internationally-acclaimed artists and rising creative voices. Artworks by iconic feminist figures such as Louise Bourgeois, Elizabeth Catlett, Barbara Kruger, Ana Mendieta, Shirin Neshat, Yoko Ono, Carolee Schneeman and Cindy Sherman are present alongside bold contemporary works by globally-recognized and emerging Midwestern artists. The exhibit will be on display through October 26, 2025.
Free gallery tours are available for small groups and organizations. To schedule a docent-led tour, contact Janet Bloch at jbloch@lubeznikcenter.org.
For more information, contact Jessie Sexton, LCA's marketing manager, at (219) 874-4900 or jsexton@lubeznikcenter.org.
