Reins of Life Needs More Volunteers

Reins of Life, Inc., is a therapeutic horseback riding center with barns in Michigan City and South Bend. They have served children and adults with disabilities since 1978 through equine-assisted services. If you like helping others, new experiences, and horses, this is the perfect place for you! Volunteers do not need horse skills as you will be taught what you need to volunteer. It is a fun environment where you meet new people, get some exercise, and spend time with big, furry friends.

Reins of Life serves over 75 individuals a week. Each participant requires up to three volunteers to help during their lessons, so Reins is always on the search for more volunteers!

The Michigan City center invites you to attend new volunteer training on Monday, May 4 from 2-4:30 p.m. CT and Tuesday, May 5 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. CT at their barn located at 9375 W. 300 N. After attending one session, you’ll be qualified to volunteer in therapeutic riding lessons. Anyone interested in volunteering to feed the herd has separate one-on-one training. There are also opportunities to volunteer in their therapeutic carriage driving program, interactive vaulting, school program, and events.

To RSVP, please call 219-874-7519. You must be age 13+ to volunteer in lessons and 16+ to volunteer as a feeder.
