Youth Sports 2023 Registration Now Open

City of La Porte Park & Recreation Department to Offer Ballroom Dancing Classes
The La Porte Park and Recreation Department is taking registrations for their Ballroom Dancing Classes. Couples only are welcome to register. Participants may register at the Park Office by calling 219-326-9600 weekdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Through the instruction of Patty Kolvek, owner of Dance Sophisticates, participants will learn the Waltz and Cha Cha. For the month of February, we are celebrating Black History Month at the Museum! Come in to see the Black Biographies Exhibit and learn about the many prominent black men and women that have made La Porte County what it is today.
Pioneer Land Spinners are Back at the Museum!
On Saturday, February 11th, from 10:30 am - 2:00 pm, the spinners from PioneerLand will be spinning yarn from natural fibers at the Museum. These talented artisans usually spin in a barn at the La Porte County Fairgrounds, so it is a special opportunity to see them here! 1st Source Foundation Supports Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County Expansion Efforts Through $100,000 Grant
1st Source Foundation, an entity created to enhance and strengthen the social, economic and cultural fabric of the communities served by 1st Source Bank, has awarded a $100,000 grant to support Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County’s (BGCLPC) Great Futures Capital Campaign. BGCLPC is a nonprofit youth development organization providing afterschool and summer programming. New Home for Several Artifacts at the La Porte County Historical Society Museum
Several artifacts within the museum's collection have been moved to their new home on the Art Gallery Wall!Large stone signs of the Higday building and Dr. S. B. Collins building have now been moved to the art gallery wall to allow visitors to view them more clearly. Previously, the stone signs were hidden behind cases. Resort Apartments Expansion Sought
LaPorte, IN - The resort-type apartments going up in La Porte could double in number. On Monday night, the La Porte City Council approved a letter of support for the request. Dermody Announces Agreement with Rural King to Open in La Porte
May 11th, 2020—Rural King, America’s Farm and Home Store, has announced plans to open in La Porte, Indiana by March 2021. The new store will open in Maple Lane Mall, 1340 West State Road 2. Significant renovations to the 221,000 sq. ft. structure are scheduled to begin in early spring.
