La Porte County residents are encouraged by Immediate Movers & Storage to continue the spirit of giving into 2025 by donating your time to Habitat For Humanity in a variety of ways. 

If you enjoy physical work and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can help with site preparation, which includes tasks like lot clearing, excavation, laying out posts, digging holes, and positioning posts in concrete. You could also assist with framing and rough carpentry. For those with a knack for finer details, jobs like painting, floor coverings, and finishing are available. If you prefer working outdoors, you could help with landscaping, which might involve clearing the lot after construction, preparing the soil, making a planting plan, planting and sowing seeds. You could also help the homeowner learn about their new garden! 

For those who enjoy interacting with others, you could be an errand runner on construction days or provide food and drinks to volunteers. If you're organized and enjoy working behind the scenes, you could organize tools or seek donations of building materials and tools. If you're creative, you could help decorate the house or fundraise to buy essentials to make it move-in ready. You could also help with cleaning to prepare the house for its new family. 

Do you have administrative skills? Consider joining one of the committees, help with admin work, or assist with social media, websites, and fundraising. There are always plenty of tasks to be done, and it takes great people with diverse skills and talents to keep things running smoothly and help Habitat for Humanity reach its goal of providing affordable housing for families in need.

Habitat for Humanity relies heavily on volunteers like you to build homes for families in need. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, so even if you don't have construction experience, your willingness to learn and contribute are truly invaluable. By volunteering your time and energy, you are playing a crucial role in making La Porte County a better place for everyone.
