Downtown Ice Rink Returns Later This Month
La PORTE, IN (Nov. 14, 2025) – A favorite La Porte winter tradition is returning to downtown beginning Thanksgiving weekend, according to Park Superintendent Mark Schreiber.
The Downtown La Porte Ice Rink will open at the corner of State and Monroe streets on Friday, November 28, and operate through WinterFest on January 23-25. Schreiber said the rink draws visitors downtown each year for public skating, lessons, rentals and special events throughout the winter months.
“Thanks to partnerships with local businesses and organizations, skating last season at the Downtown La Porte Ice Rink increased 80 percent over our previous season high,” Schreiber said. “That means more families are enjoying a healthy winter activity while visiting our downtown.”
Schreiber said promotions like Free Skate Fridays and BOGO (buy one get one) Skate Sundays will return in an effort to make skating as affordable as possible for La Porte families. Businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities for the 2025-26 season should contact the Park Office at 219-326-9600.
For more information on the Downtown Ice Rink and other Park and Recreation programming, visit laporteparkandrec.com. Patrons are encouraged to register for skating in advance at the Park Department website. Registration onsite is credit or debit card only.
